Advance Polls Federal Election

In a Canadian federal election, Elections Canada provides three days of extra polls for voters who can't or don't wish to vote on election day. If necessary, you can also register at the advance poll.

For the 2011 Canadian federal election the advance polls are on Friday April 22, Saturday April 23 and Monday April 25. Advance polls are open from noon to 8 pm local time across Canada.

Your Voter Information Card will tell you the location of your advance poll. You can also find out where to vote in the advance poll by finding your riding using Election Canada's Voter Information Service or by calling Elections Canada at 1-800-463-6868.

If you are not on the voters list, you can register at the advance poll. To register at the advance poll, you must sign the Registration Certificate that the deputy returning officer completes for you and provide voter identification to prove your identity and residential address.

If it is still inconvenient for you to vote either on election day or at the advance polls, there are still two alternatives. You can vote by special ballot at your local Elections Canada office or you can vote by mail. For more information on these two alternatives, see 6 Ways to Vote in Canadian Federal Elections.
